What ballet heels are
Ballet heels place the foot in a vertical position — the position a ballet dancer holds en pointe. The heel is typically slim and extremely high, and on some models it is absent altogether, with the weight resting directly on the toe. This is the most extreme shape of footwear Pleaser makes.
Be realistic about what this is
This is not a shoe for walking. In the vertical position the entire weight of the body rests on the small area of the toe, and the ankle has virtually no range of movement. Most people can stand in them or move short distances, not move about normally. Treat that as a product specification rather than a shortcoming.
How to start
Start short, with support and on a soft surface. Let the foot and instep get used to the position before you try standing unsupported. Laced and strapped models hold the foot better than those without fastening. And if anything starts to hurt sharply, you stop — the vertical position leaves no room to negotiate.
Models and materials
Most often patent leather in black, less frequently in red or white. Lacing along the full length of the instep holds the foot best and creates the characteristic look at the same time. Lockable versions also exist, combining ballet heels with a padlock at the ankle — you will find those in the lockable heels category too.
