The lightest option in the category
A heel slide without a platform is the least conspicuous shoe in the whole group. There is no strap behind the heel and no lifted toe, so all that remains is the instep and the heel. It is barely visible on the foot, and still adds the full height.
Expect more work from your foot
Two things that would otherwise hold the foot are missing here — the strap above the heel and the platform that would ease the angle. The foot therefore carries the whole weight in a steep position. Twelve centimetres in a slide without a platform is noticeably harder than the same height in a strapped sandal.
Where they look best
With narrow trousers, where only the toe and heel show. At home and with lingerie, where the line of the leg is the point. And at a shoot, where you want a high heel but not a loud shoe.
What to choose
A clear instep is the most versatile and works with any colour. Black patent looks sharpest. Satin and suede soften the overall impression and suit more delicate outfits.
