Why the platform changes everything
The platform lifts the front of the shoe, so the angle of the foot is gentler than the heel height alone would suggest. Eighteen centimetres with a five-centimetre platform wears much like thirteen without one. That is exactly why you can dance and stand in these sandals for so much longer.
Colours worth considering
Black is the safest choice and takes anything. Red platform sandals work for a Christmas party and for a shoot where you want one strong colour. Pink reads softer and suits pastel and white outfits. Silver and clear platforms, meanwhile, come alive under club lighting.
How high to go
Lower platforms around three centimetres look more everyday and wear easily all day. Between five and seven centimetres you move into stage territory, where the shoe becomes a statement in its own right. The tallest models above seven centimetres are made mainly for performance and photography.
Clear and coloured platforms
A clear platform visually disappears and the shoe looks lighter than it really is. A solid coloured platform does the opposite — it draws the eye and emphasises the whole silhouette. Models with LED lighting work best where there is little light.
Where to take them
To pole dance and exotic, where the platform protects the instep against the pole. To the club, where you will stay on your feet for hours. And to a shoot, where the taller base changes the proportions of the whole figure.
