What pony play footwear is
The sole is shaped like a hoof — a continuous block with no separate heel, lifting the heel high and shaping the instep into a steep arch. The result is a walk visibly different from walking in an ordinary heel, and that is exactly the point of this footwear.
How it differs from an ordinary platform
On an ordinary platform shoe the toe and heel stay separate and the sole flexes at the front. Here the sole is a single rigid piece, so the foot does not flex at all. The step is therefore longer and less natural, which is precisely the intended effect.
Wearing them
Expect that you will not walk far or fast in pony play footwear. The rigid sole and the steep arch through the instep are demanding, and it takes a while for the foot to adjust. They are most often worn for short periods — on stage, at a shoot or for a particular occasion.
Models and materials
Most often black patent or matte leather, frequently with an ankle strap or lacing along the full length of the shin. Some models carry metal hardware for clipping to. The tallest versions combine the hoof sole with a lockable strap.
